Beginning July 1, passengers on MAS flights are no longer forced to turn off their mobiles

With the introduction of a new technology called Gate-to-Gate connectivity, passengers onboard Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) aircraft will no longer be obliged to turn off their personal devices.

In a statement on June 27, MAG stated that the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) had granted the airline regulatory authority to provide Gate-to-Gate connectivity for customers on its carriers, Malaysia carriers, Firefly, and MASwings.

By turning on flight mode, it was stated that passengers could maintain connectivity on their personal or portable electronic devices (PEDs), such as mobile phones and tablets, during the trip.

He said that the airline will also be investing in cutting-edge technologies and services. "As part of our connectivity strategy, we will be actively expanding the number of our aircraft equipped with WiFi to provide an improved in-flight experience to our valued customers," he said.

The chief executive of Airlines from MAG, Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, stated that initiatives are being taken to make in-flight connectivity available to more passengers.
